Nearly four months after being named as Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru was announced dead on Friday, May 21, 2021 in an air crash at the Kaduna International Airport.
The 350 Beechcraft aircraft, with registration number 5N-R203, was conveying the Chief Of Army Staff and other officers to Kaduna to attend the passing-out parade of soldiers from the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria. The plane was billed to land at the Nigerian Airforce Base in the Mando area of Kaduna before it diverted and attempted to land at the Kaduna International Airport.
Some of the locals, who witnessed the crash, said that the troubled aircraft exploded and got burnt completely by the time it hit the ground. The question on the lips of many is: “what exactly caused the crash?”

Dr. Ona Ekhomu started by saying it’s a very sad development, we lost a great Chief of Army Staff, a young man who was inbuilt with patritoic zeal and who had a very productive leadership style. Within his short time in office, he did his best to make a difference. Having said that, we need to point out indications to the cause of the crash, even though the
