Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was one of six players nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award on Friday.
The 33-year-old was instrumental in Liverpool’s Premier League title victory last season, contributing 29 goals and 18 assists.
The Egyptian star was named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association, earning nearly 90 per cent of the votes, setting the largest winning margin of this century, and is considered the leading contender for the PFA award.
Salah’s competition on the shortlist includes his Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

Palmer, who took home the PFA Young Player of the Year award for 2023-24, was an unexpected candidate for the list due to his struggles with Chelsea last season.
Rice had an impressive midfield season for Arsenal, achieving a career-high of nine goals while also providing 10 assists in 52 matches across all competitions.
Sweden’s Isak netted 23 times for Newcastle, helping the team secure a spot in the Champions League and end a 56-year trophy drought by winning the League Cup.
Fernandes stood out as one of the few shining lights for United during the club’s most disappointing top-flight season since 1973-74, scoring eight league goals and contributing 10 assists.
The awards ceremony for this year is scheduled to take place in Manchester on August 19.
