Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced on Tuesday that Nigerian lawmakers will receive the report on the ₦54.2 trillion 2025 budget estimates this week for possible passage.

Speaking during plenary, Akpabio stated that the Senate Committee on Appropriations is expected to present the report on Wednesday or Thursday.

He disclosed this while addressing lawmakers after a debate on a bill to establish a Federal University of Agriculture in Abak, Akwa Ibom State.

Akpabio emphasised the urgency of finalising work on the budget, noting that some senators were absent from the chamber to complete the Appropriation Bill.

“You will observe that some of our colleagues are not in the chamber because they are working on the final details of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, which will be laid before us tomorrow (Wednesday) or the next day (Thursday),” he said.

The 2025 Appropriation Bill, to be submitted by Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Adeola Olamilekan, will undergo final consideration and passage once the report is presented.
