Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajuddeen Abbas, has announced a major initiative to sponsor the education of hundreds of indigenes from Zaria Local Government and other areas within Zone One of Kaduna State. This initiative is aimed at empowering residents from Sabongari, Soba, Ikara, Kubau, Kudan, Lere, and Makarfi.
The sponsorship will provide selected individuals the opportunity to study at the prestigious Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST). This initiative reflects Mr. Abbas’s strong commitment to education and skills development within the region.

The announcement was made by Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, the Director-General and CEO of NILEST, who revealed that the Speaker plans to fund the full enrollment of students from the listed local government areas in the institute’s science and technology programs focused on leather and leather products.
Dr. Imam further shared that the Speaker would cover all expenses for the students, including tuition fees, accommodation, transportation, and terminal stipends for feeding and other related costs. He encouraged prospective students who plan to sit for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams to select NILEST as their first choice during registration.
