Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr announced on Wednesday that Italian manager Stefano Pioli has left his role as head coach after just nine months in charge.

The club gave no official explanation for the departure, although speculation is mounting that Pioli could return to Serie A side Fiorentina, where he previously had a spell as manager.

“Al Nassr announces that Mr. Pioli and his staff no longer coach the first team,” the Riyadh-based club said in a statement shared on social media. “We would like to thank Mr. Pioli and his staff for their work last season.”

Pioli, who steered AC Milan to the Serie A title in 2022, took over at Al Nassr in September 2024. His side finished third in the Saudi Pro League during the 2024/25 season, which included high-profile stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 59-year-old tactician had previously managed several top Italian clubs, including Inter Milan, Lazio, Bologna, and notably Fiorentina—the club he is now being tipped to rejoin following his Saudi exit.
