The Sudanese government has once again accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of providing military support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to a report by Al-Khaleej Online.
In a press conference held in Port Sudan yesterday, Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Hussein Awad, claimed that UN reports confirmed 400 flights carrying weapons landed at Um Jars and N’Djamena Airports in Chad. He also asserted that the Sudanese government has evidence linking the UAE to violence against civilians, particularly in Al-Fashir.
Additionally, Sudan’s Information Minister, Graham Abdel Qader, accused the UAE of offering political cover for the RSF’s activities, alleging that the Gulf nation facilitated the transportation of military equipment and organised medical treatment for wounded RSF fighters at Sheikh Zayed Hospital.
The UAE has consistently denied these allegations, maintaining that it has not supplied arms or financial aid to the RSF or any other party involved in the ongoing conflict.
Sudan’s conflict, which erupted in April 2023 due to a power struggle between the military and the RSF, has escalated into full-scale warfare, resulting in a severe humanitarian crisis. Nearly half of Sudan’s 50 million people now face critical shortages of food and medical supplies.
