Three Nigerian Army soldiers and four Nigeria Police Force officers were killed while repelling a bandit attack on a highway in Zamfara on Thursday.

Zamfara’s Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dalijan, stated that the bandits had planned to target a construction company operating along the highway. Joint security forces, consisting of both police and army personnel, were deployed to the area, but the bandits ambushed them and opened fire.

Dalijan noted that the troops put up a strong fight while fending off the attackers. “The bandits intended to raid Setraco camp to abduct some staff members, but we received the information and dispatched our men, unaware that the bandits had laid an ambush,” he explained.

As the forces approached, they encountered heavy resistance, leading to a gunfight. Unfortunately, three soldiers and four police officers were killed in the exchange.
