President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised traditional rulers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for their support and cooperation in the development of critical infrastructure in Katampe, Abuja.
Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of newly completed arterial roads and an interchange in the Katampe District, Tinubu said their collaboration with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, helped ensure peaceful and organised development.
“Traditional rulers, they told me how cooperative you are and all you did to cooperate, to collaborate with the FCT minister,” Tinubu stated. “And respectively you have been relocated. Not that we grab the land like any government.”
The president emphasised that inclusive development requires trust and partnership. “We want development but how well we organise and execute it depends on us because you are there, we are there because of the trust you have in us.”
He acknowledged the peaceful relocation of affected communities, commending both the traditional leaders and the FCT administration.

“Thank you very much for your cooperation. We thank you and we thank the minister FCT too for relocating your community with peace and good compensation.”
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to urban renewal through infrastructure. “I am honoured to be here with you today to commission yet another critical infrastructure, the arterial road including an interconnect interchange and other roads in Katampe district of the federal capital territory.”
The president said the project was part of his administration’s broader development vision. “It affirms our commitment to urban transformation under our Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“Since assuming office in May 23, this administration has been guided by a philosophy anchored on reform and regeneration. Today we see tangible proof of that philosophy in action”, he concluded.
