Ange Postecoglou has backed Tottenham captain Son Heung-min to return to his best after the South Korean forward faced a rare dip in form earlier this season.
Despite a seven-game goal drought, Son has continued to be a crucial part of Tottenham’s attack, assisting in Brennan Johnson’s brace during a 3-0 win at Ipswich on Saturday. With 10 goals and 10 assists to his name this season, Son’s overall contributions remain invaluable to the team.
While some criticism came Son’s way earlier in the campaign, Postecoglou was quick to praise the 32-year-old’s elite ability and commitment. He explained that Son’s ability to beat defenders in tight spaces and his finishing quality remains top-notch. “His ability to beat players, even in tight areas, is elite. His finishing is elite,” said Postecoglou.

The Tottenham boss also acknowledged that Son’s recent form improvement is linked to having a full week of recovery between matches, allowing him to regain his energy. “He was outstanding, particularly in the first half” against Ipswich, Postecoglou added.
Looking ahead to their upcoming clash with Manchester City, Postecoglou emphasised Son’s importance, especially with injuries to other key players like Dominic Solanke and Richarlison. Despite the current slump, Postecoglou is confident that Son’s long-term consistency makes him one of the Premier League’s best wingers.
As Tottenham aims to lift silverware, Postecoglou will be counting on Son to help drive the team’s final push in the Europa League and beyond.
