US President Donald Trump on Monday called on residents of Tehran to evacuate immediately, echoing warnings from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has launched extensive military strikes on Iran.
“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform while attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada. He provided no further details in the post. Tehran, Iran’s capital, is home to nearly 10 million people.
The warning came as Israel intensified military operations inside Iran, targeting facilities it claims are connected to Iran’s disputed nuclear programme.

Earlier, the Israeli military issued a notice advising residents of a district in Tehran to evacuate—a tactic reminiscent of its operations in Gaza, where large portions of the Palestinian population have been displaced following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks.
While Trump has repeatedly refused to confirm whether the United States would take part in Israeli military actions, he has stated that the US was not involved in the initial wave of strikes.
Speaking briefly to journalists at the G7 summit, which concludes on Tuesday, Trump remarked: “As soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something. But I have to leave here first.”
