The United Arab Emirates has unveiled a cutting-edge Arabic-language artificial intelligence model, which it hails as the most advanced in the Arab world.
The new system, Falcon Arabic, is the latest addition to the UAE’s growing AI ambitions and was introduced on Wednesday by the Abu Dhabi-based Advanced Technology Research Council.
The model is an extension of Falcon, the open-source AI system launched in 2023 by Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute.
Officials say Falcon Arabic was trained on a broad range of Arabic dialects, allowing it to perform at a level comparable to models many times its size.
“We’re proud to finally bring Arabic to Falcon, and prouder still that the best-performing large language model in the Arab world was built in the UAE,” said Faisal Al-Bannai, secretary general of the council.

Alongside Falcon Arabic, the UAE also introduced Falcon H1, a new AI model designed to reduce the need for high computing power and complex technical infrastructure, making it more accessible for developers and organisations with limited resources.
The launch comes just days after the UAE and the United States signed an artificial intelligence partnership during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Abu Dhabi.
The deal includes Emirati investment in American data centres and marks another step in the UAE’s drive to position itself as a global hub for advanced technology.
