WhatsApp has announced new measures to limit broadcast messages in a bid to reduce spam on its platform.
Beginning in the coming weeks, the company will test a monthly cap on individual broadcasts, initially setting a limit of 30 messages per month.
Meta has suggested users wanting to reach larger audiences can turn to status updates or channels as alternatives. For businesses, WhatsApp plans to introduce a paid version of its broadcast messaging feature, which was previously unlimited.

In the pilot phase, businesses will receive 250 customised messages for free, with additional messages subject to charges.
Pricing details are still to be determined. Businesses will also benefit from new tools such as message scheduling and tailored broadcasts for product updates or promotions.
WhatsApp’s new feature aims to reduce spam while allowing users and businesses to communicate effectively.
The platform has already introduced tools like daily message limits and an “unsubscribe” feature to improve the user experience.
The updates coincide with a redesign of the WhatsApp Business app logo, reflecting ongoing innovation within Meta’s business communication services.
