The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended the people of the Ketti community for their overwhelming support and cooperation during the execution of a newly completed road project in Abuja, describing it as the first time the community has received direct government attention.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Friday, Wike highlighted the project’s significance to the local population and the broader FCT infrastructure drive.
“The importance of this road is why you can see the communities have come out here in their numbers to celebrate it. And that is what government owes. When the people are happy, government will be happy.” Wike remarked to cheers from residents.
The minister, known for his blunt, grassroots style, praised the traditional rulers and the community’s youth for their positive engagement throughout the construction process.
“When government does its own work, you see the reflection in the faces of the people. I’m sure this is the first time the people of Ketik are getting government attention,” he added, acknowledging the decades of neglect the area had endured.

Wike further applauded the community’s proactive attitude, contrasting it with others where construction projects often face obstruction and delays.
“There are some communities — when you award jobs to be done, instead of them supporting the company, they frustrate it. But in this case, they supported the company to finish on time. So I commend the traditional rulers and the youth for the support they gave to us, and today we are here.” the minister said.
The road’s commissioning marks another milestone in the FCT Administration’s ongoing commitment to infrastructural renewal and the inclusion of underserved communities across the territory.
