The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has established a committee to address the growing presence of Almajiri children in Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, revealed this while briefing reporters after the minister chaired a closed-door security meeting.
He explained that the initiative aims to inform security agencies about the Almajiri system, particularly its welfare and education.

Though he dismissed concerns about security threats in the capital, Disu urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities.
The committee, which includes the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services (DSS), has been given two weeks to submit its report.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has arrested five suspects for various crimes.
