The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support, which has facilitated the rapid commissioning of infrastructure projects in the FCT.
Wike made these remarks on Tuesday during the official commissioning of the Collector Road in the Dakibiyu District, an event attended by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, representing the President.
Minister Wike highlighted that the Dakibiyu Collector Road marks the 14th project commissioned within a mere two weeks, all initiated by the FCT administration with the President’s backing.
“Your Excellency, let me again thank you today, which is the 14th day, two weeks, that you have been commissioning projects initiated by the FCT administration through your support. I want to sincerely thank you,” Wike stated.

He also acknowledged the Vice President’s patience, who waited through adverse weather conditions to attend the ceremony. “I also thank you for waiting since morning because of the weather, and the weather did not stop you from coming,” he added.
Wike recounted the deplorable state of the road before its reconstruction. He recalled his shock upon visiting the site while searching for land for the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
“Your Excellency, you can’t believe that as a city, we could have such terrible, horrible roads,” he exclaimed, emphasising the unsuitability of the previous conditions for a capital city.
The minister confirmed that the contract for the road was awarded in September of last year and flagged off in October. Less than a year later, the project has been completed and commissioned, a testament to the swift execution enabled by presidential support.
“Today, we are commissioning it. Your Excellency, thank you for your continual support,” Wike concluded, reiterating his appreciation for the President’s commitment to the development of the FCT.
