The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the right kind of leadership driving progress in Nigeria, particularly in infrastructure development.
Speaking on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, during the commissioning of newly constructed interchange bridges at Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) over the Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), Wike said good leadership was central to effective governance.
“Let me say this, that leadership, whether a government, leadership, whether in a party, leadership, in any form, is very, very important,” Wike stated. “But the survival of government, what makes a government to say the government has done well or has not done well, is leadership. When you provide the right leadership, you will get the results.”

He credited President Tinubu for providing such leadership, which he said was responsible for the successful delivery of key infrastructure. “As the President has provided and is providing the right leadership, that’s where we are seeing the results today. And so, there’s no magic. It’s all about commitment. The President is committed in this country.”
Taking a swipe at past administrations, Wike challenged anyone to claim credit for the newly completed projects. “If you know, for the past few 2010 to 2023, there are projects we are commissioning that you say is finished, please do us a favour by coming out to say these projects, we started it, we finished it. I know nobody would say that.”
He emphasised the administration’s focus on action over promises. “Let also people know that this is not 3G. This is not what we will do. This is what we have done. So it’s not 3G. It’s not about showing a computer.”
In a broader comment on governance and politics, the minister also criticised the politicisation of judicial processes and poor understanding of governance in some quarters. “When you shoot yourself, you say somebody shot you. When you don’t know something, ask the right person. Not because of ego… Money does not solve all the problems.”
Wike concluded by inviting President Tinubu to officially commission the bridges, describing the event as a milestone for the administration. “If you want to learn, come and meet your guru, teach you how to go about it. On that note, Mr. President, I invite you to come together and commission it for him. Thank you very much.”
