Former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has pledged that the insecurity affecting Zamfara and Northwestern Nigeria will be significantly reduced by October 2025.
Speaking to journalists at his country home in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area, Yari highlighted ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Government to address the crisis, including the deployment of additional security personnel to combat terrorism, particularly in Zamfara.
“Recently, the military has procured and deployed equipment to the Northwest, focusing on the region due to the alarming rise in banditry and criminal activities,” Yari explained. “I assure you that by the end of October next year, this issue will be reduced to the barest minimum.”
The senator attributed his optimism to the unprecedented allocation of funds for security in the Federal Government’s budget, describing it as the largest investment in security in Nigeria’s history. “By God’s grace, these resources will be utilised judiciously to make insecurity a thing of the past,” he added.
Yari expressed hope that these measures would bring much-needed relief to Zamfara’s residents, especially farmers who have been unable to access their fields due to the threat of violence.
“By the next rainy season, most of our farmers will return to their farmlands without fear, as the President has assured Nigerians of this,” he said.
The senator also urged patience and cooperation from the public, encouraging residents to support government efforts aimed at restoring peace to the state.
Zamfara State has been a hotspot of armed violence in Northern Nigeria, with banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity severely disrupting lives and livelihoods.
