Etoile du Sahel progress in CAF Confederations Cup

10-man Etoile du Sahel qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals following a 2-1 win over Al Hilal at the Egyptian Army Stadium in Suez on Tuesday.

With a 3-1 home win earlier this month, Etoile completed the job with a convincing 5-2 aggregate victory. Waleed Bakhet put Al Hilal in front after 30 minutes, the Tunisians responded six minutes later through Algerian forward Karim Aribi after being set up by defender Zied Boughattas.

Aribi was sent off on the stroke of half time but Etoile showed no signs of being at a disadvantage and scored the winner through Wajdi Kechrida 10 minutes from full time.

The match was played at a neutral venue in Egypt after CAF agreed to a request by Hilal to postpone the match and relocate it from Omdurman amidst political turmoil and protests in Sudan. Etoile have little time to catch their breath as they face Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek on Sunday in the first leg of the semi finals.
