Four time African Footballer of The Year Samuel Eto’o has joined the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) as a Global Ambassador.
In a press release, SC Secretary General Hassan Al Thawadi revealed that Eto’o will have a particular focus on workers’ welfare projects.
Eto’o joins former Spain international Xavi Hernandez and former professional tennis player and renowned sports broadcaster Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari as official SC Ambassadors.
Eto’o currently plays for the Qatar Sports Club in the QNB Stars League. His illustrious career saw him win 118 caps for Cameroon scoring 56 goals. He played in four FIFA World Cups. His club career saw him play at Mallorca, Chelsea, Everton, Barcelona and Inter Milan, winning the UEFA Champions League on two separate occasions.
In 2017 he was named the United Nations International Children’s Education Fund Goodwill Ambassador for Cameroon. His foundation, which was launched in 2006, has built football schools across Africa
