11 Suspected Kidnappers Arrested In Nigeria’s Delta

Authorities over the weekend reported the arrest of eleven hoodlums, suspected to be kidnappers in Delta State, Nigeria.

According to the Delta State Police Command, a firearm and some rounds of ammunition with eleven mobile phones from the suspects.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, added that 11 mobile phones were also recovered from the suspects.

The State Police boss said the suspects were arrested separately by Policemen on routine “stop and search duties.”

CP Inuwa said the kidnappers abducted a man and dispossessed him of his SUV but they were intercepted by operatives on routine patrol who arrested two suspects.

He said, “The two led to the arrests of nine others in Oghara, Mosogar, Jesse and Sapele communities in Ethiope-West and Sapele Local Government Areas of Delta State.”

He said the suspected kidnappers have been troubling and disturbing the police in the areas mentioned above.

Kidnapping in Delta State is rife. In April 2020, gunmen kidnapped an Anglican priest working on his farm at Issele-Mkpitime in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta.

The priest, Rev. Anthony Oyi of Oko Agbele Quarters was abducted by suspected herdsmen along with members of his family.

This month, gunmen kidnapped the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Amb. Aduge Okorodudu.

Okorodudu, who had attended the State People Democratic Party, PDP, Congress in Asaba was kidnapped while being driven home by his driver.
