Thirteen people, including six children, died in Guinea after a minibus accident that landed the vehicle in a river, authorities report.
The collision occurred close to the town of Kissidougou, located southwest of the country, leaving many injured and hospitalised.
“The first information received by local authorities indicates that the driver’s drowsiness caused the accident,” the statement said.
Road mishaps are prevalent in Guinea due to the poor state of roads, old vehicles and often careless driving. Recently, heavy rainfall has exacerbated the condition of roads in different places.
