The singer treated the teeming audience to a live rendition of some of his classics.

International music star, John Legend was present as a guest performer at the 2020 THISDAY Awards which was held at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Lagos yesterday, January 20.

The event is a celebration of one of Nigeria’s top newspapers, THISDAY’s 25th Anniversary. The Grammy award-winning singer treated the audience to a live rendition of some of his classics, including his 2013 smash, ‘All Of Me’.

His presence in Nigeria was initially disclosed by his wife, model and media personality, Chrissy Teigen in a tweet early yesterday morning.

“John went to Nigeria for a couple days and I thought about going, purely to find Michael from 90 days, but…the enchilada has rendered me useless,” she shared.

The tweet came to the surprise and delight of fans who were shocked at the singer’s unpublicized entry into the country.

John Legend is a multi-award winning singer, actor, producer, and songwriter who has bagged Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.

Released in October 2018, his latest album, “A Legendary Christmas,” is nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards.
