The presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has promised to defeat President Yoweri Museveni In 2021 General Elections.
Ssentamu, a former reggae artiste popularly by his stage name Bobi Wine, disclosed this in an address to the Ugandan Diaspora at the weekend.
In his address, Bobi Wine claimed President Museveni failed to live to promises he made Ugandans over 30 years ago when he got into power through a military coup which deposed President Obote in 1986.
He further accused Museveni of making Ugandans very poor by misusing their resources for over three decades.
Bobi Wine then reiterated his zeal to uphold human dignity and justice to all Ugandans from all walks of life and religious affiliations if he wins the election.
The Peoples President, as his supporters call him, promised to turn around Uganda’s economy and bring sanity and equity in his government.
He added that when he becomes president he would welcome back Ugandans living in Europe, Asia, North America so that together they can help him rebuild the battered economy.
Apart from politics, Bobi Wine is an activist, singer, actor, businessman and philanthropist. He won the Zzina Awards for Male Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year as recent as 2018.
He has served as the member of parliament representing Kyadondo East constituency in Wakiso District, in Uganda’s Central Region from 11 July 2017. He is the leading opposition figure in Uganda and has been at the forefront of leading protests across Uganda.
Thousands of his supporters followed the live stream from Facebook and Youtube and they also had a chance to ask him questions and give him suggestions.
He requested for donations from the Diaspora to help him run a good campaign which will culminate in beating Museveni in the General elections in 2021.
