Scammers Hack Cameroon’s Mine Minister’s Phone

Cameroon’s Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Gabriel Dodo Ndoké, has said that hackers have taken over his phone number.

The minister warned all his contacts not to respond to any financial requests coming from his number.

Mr Ndoké said the authorities were working to recover the number.

Ministers in Cameroon are often targets for hackers and scammers who create fake social media accounts using their names to con people, according to Journal du Cameroun.

The minister revealed this on Wednesday, 7th October 2020 in a press statement, saying: the scammers are using his number for scam purposes via social networks and electronic transfers.

“He therefore invites all his contacts to be vigilant and not to follow up on any financial solicitation or any credit to any equivocal publications coming from him”, one can read in the press release of the Minmidt.

Minister Gabriel Dodo Ndoké also indicates that all arrangements will be made to get hold of the perpretrators.
