Burkina Faso’s Kabore Promises Reconciliation as Second Term Begins

Burkina Faso President, Roch Mac Kabore has promised that he will reunite the nation’s broken parts in new national reconciliation and peace programmes.

Kabore was re-elected in a new 5-year term last month and has said he will fight to ensure the jihadist attacks that have affected the country will become a thing of the past.

In 2020 alone, Al-Qaeda and other terrorists has killed at least 2000 Burkinabe, to the displeasure of citizens who have called for change.

Citizens, however reiterated their trust in Kabore as he won 57.8% of the votes in November 22 Presidential election.

Kabore has also vowed to fight corruption in his last term in office.

The landlocked country has seen little improvements since the President came on board in 2015 after the ouster of Blaise Compaore who ruled the country for 27 years and demanded a term extension.

Observers are also taking note of Kabore’s moves, as many wait to see if he will tow the lane of term extension like Compaore, or choose to leave office after his second 5-year term.
