Namibia, South Africa Brace Up for Fuel Price Hike

Namibia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy have announced that fuel prices will increase in the month of April by 50 cents a litre for both diesel and petrol. The new prices at Walvis Bay will be N$13.15 for a litre of petrol and N$13.18 for diesel effective from April 7 2021.

Fuel prices increased by 80 cents for both petrol and diesel in March. The total increase over the two months adds up to N$1.30.

In a similar development, South Africa’s Automobile Association (AA) says it expects a further hike in fuel prices in April when the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy will make the official adjustment on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

Finance minister Tito Mboweni in February announced the increase of 27 cents to the General Fuel Levy and Road Accident Fund levies effective from April and will add extra costs to every litre of fuel purchased, in addition to the increased monthly adjustment.
