Ogun State Government Inaugurates Amotekun Corps

Ogun state has inaugurated Amotekun corps at the arcade ground, Oke-Mosan, in Abeokuta, the state capital, southwest Nigeria.

David Akinremi, a retired Commissioner of Police has been appointed by the state Governor to be the pioneer Commander of Amotekun in the state and serve as a watch over the corps.

The corps are expected to assist the police, other security agencies and traditional rulers in countering terrorism, banditry, armed robbery and kidnapping.

Operation Amotekun is a security arm based in all the six states of Southwestern, Nigeria, responsible for curbing insecurity in the region.

All Governors of the southwestern states in Nigeria, jointly established Operation Amotekun (Leopard) on the 9th of January 2020.
