Suspected hoodlums attacked the Owerri Correctional Prison in the Imo State capital on Monday.
No fewer than 1,500 inmates were freed in the cells at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the command.
It was reported that the gunmen operated from 1am till 3am and they also burnt almost all the vehicles parked at the command headquarters.
