The so-called bandits, terrorising Nigeria’s North West and the North Central had demanded a ransom of N110million to release the students but recently raised it up to N200million.

Niger State, which is a strategic point in Northern Nigeria has suffered a share of the bitter spoils of banditry and a deeply-rooted, yet growing kidnap-for-ransom business in the country.

Bandits have been responsible for various school abductions in Niger State, Kaduna State, Zamfara State and others.
