Egypt’s Food Export Council (FEC) announced on Tuesday that the country’s food exports to EU countries jumped 31 percent during the period from January to August 2021, registering a rise estimated at $437 million, compared with the same period last year.

Italy is ranked 15th among the key EU countries receiving Egyptian food exports during this period, with products valued at $78 million, representing a 23 percent increase compared with the same period of 2020, the council said in a statement.

FEC Deputy Executive Director Tameem El-Dawy in a meeting with the Italian partners engaged in the implementation of the RORO maritime terminal on the fringe of TransMEA 2021 fair currently held at Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo to review the logistical capabilities, absorptive capacities and complementary services of the navigation line that will help in the transportation of frozen and perishable food items to Europe.
