2022 Caf Awards: Sadio Mane Crowned African Footballer of the Year

Senegal’s Sadio Mane has been crowned the African Footballer of the Year at a glittering 2022 Caf Awards ceremony organised by the Confederation of African Football in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

The awards returned for the first time in three years after being suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic

The 30-year-old retains the crown he won in 2019.

The women’s honour also went to the last winner in 2019 – Asisat Oshoala.

Senegal won five of the seven men’s awards, including team of the year, with Aliou Cissé named coach of the year.

South Africa’s Desiree Ellis won the female coach of the year.

Young Player of the Year (men): Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal & Tottenham Hotspur)

Club of the Year (women): Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa).

Club of the Year (men): Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco).

Interclub Player of the Year (women): Evelyn Badu (Ghana & Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies/Alvaldsnes)

Interclub Player of the Year (men): Mohamed El Shenawy (Egypt & Al Ahly).

Goal of the Year: Pape Ousmane Sakho (Senegal & Simba).
