Watford Finally Release Senegalese Winger, Ismaila Sarr for AFCON

With barely five days to the kick-off of games at the Africa Cup of Nations, Watford has released Ismaila Sarr to join his National team side, Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Watford had maintained that Sarr was injured and unable to join the team in Cameroon for the AFCON, according to the Senegalese FA was a plot not to release him.

The 23-year-old has now departed London for Cameroon on Tuesday, according to the Senegal national team

Sarr has been sidelined since November with knee ligament damage, and Watford urged his country to send a specialist to check his situation.

According to Fifa rules, every player called up for international service must be released, even if wounded, so that the country’s medical team may examine them.

Senegal will play Zimbabwe in their opening Group B encounter on Monday.
