Soludo Meets Nnamdi Kanu Over Insecurity In Anambra

The Governor of Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria, Charles Soludo on Saturday visited the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over security in the state.

In images making the rounds, both men exchanged pleasantries and shared an embrace.

According to a terse statement released by Soludo, Kanu described the mayhem being unleashed by locals as “sacrilegious killings”.

“I visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, (Friday, 13th May, 2022) to felicitate with him and also as part of the wider consultations with critical stakeholders in search of lasting peace and security in the South East, ” Soludo said in a statement.

“He was in very high spirits and we had quality and frank discussion in a very convivial atmosphere.

“He expressed sadness over what he described as “sacrilegious killings” of innocent persons, kidnappings and all forms of criminalities, including the brutal enforcement of the senseless “sit at home” perpetuated by sundry groups claiming to be acting for or on behalf of IPOB.

“He assured that if the opportunity arises, he will be glad to personally broadcast to his followers to maintain the peace.

“Together, we shall restore peace, security and prosperity in Anambra and the Southeast.

“It is well indeed!”

A sit-at-home enforced on Mondays by the Eastern Security Network (ESN) has caused divergent opinions in Anambra State, a significant part of Southeast Nigeria.

With locals maimed sometimes for failing to adhere to the sit-at-home order, many state governments in the region are seeking a peaceful route out of a difficult situation, and a visit by Soludo to Kanu is seen as a vital step in the process.
