Ondo: “Nigeria Fast Becoming A Failed State” – Peter Obi 

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Sunday condemned the gruesome attack on Catholic worshippers in Owaluwa, Owo, Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria.

Many were killed by suspected terrorists at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo on Sunday. 

Obi, who left the main opposition, the PDP some weeks ago to take the Labour Party’s candidacy said the action adds to his position on the current state of the nation.

He sympathised with the families of the deceased and urged the Nigerian and Ondo government to find the perpetrators.

Obi’s reaction was just one of the many reactions that followed the incident, especially from various Presidential aspirants and candidates.

How Did Other Presidential Hopeful React? 

Aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu condemned the attack and tagged it ‘evil and brutal’. 

Tinubu, who is expected to be on the ballot for the APC primaries later today also sent his thoughts and prayers to the people of the state.

Another APC aspirant and Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo also sent his condolences as he tagged the massacre ‘senseless’.

In a fashion now typical of the Nigerian government, albeit, with little improvements to see, he restated the Nigerian government’s resolve to battle the terror which has for the past seven years been a prominent Nigerian story.

Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar also condemned the attack and asked for relevant security agencies to leave no stone unturned in bringing the criminals to justice.

The former Vice President further stated that he hopes a lasting solution will be adopted to stop what he tagged “painful episodes”.

Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Rotimi Amaechi also sent his condolences and sympathised with the state government as the political leaders took rounds to express their sadness with the unfortunate incident. 

Meanwhile, the President, Muhammadu Buhari hosted the APC Presidential aspirants to a banquet at the state house in Nigeria’s federal capital territory, hours after the gruesome killings.
