Twenty four pregnant ladies have been rescued by Nigerian authorities from a suspected baby factory operating in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.
An official noted that eleven children were also rescued from the baby factory.
The Officer Commanding 13 Brigade Provost, Major Stanley Ikepeme, disclosed that two suspects were also arrested during the raid.
Ikepeme, who handed the victims to officials of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), said that the Nigeria Army would not relent in its task of ensuring that peace and security reign in the state.
NAPTIP official, Oba Jacobs, who received the victims and suspects, remarked that the suspects would be investigated and charged to court.
One of the suspects alleged to be the owner of the baby factory, Fedelia Daniel, has denied any knowledge of the existence of the factory.
One of the rescued teenagers admitted to being paid 2000 Nigerian Naira daily.
