24-year-Old Creates Niger’s First Video Game ‘Heroes of The Sahel’

24-year-Old Nigerien Creates The Country’s First Video Game ‘Heroes of the Sahel’ (News Central TV)

The first video game created in Niger was created by a Nigerien. The video game “Les Héros du Sahel” which bears this invention’s name, is designed to work on Android phones, desktops, and Nintendo Wiis.

The 24-year-old, Coqueyni Issa Mahaman, who designed it through his company MOGMedia Design makes sure that no financial resources were needed for the game’s creation. He just had six months to spare.

As a result, the demonstrative version has been freely available through his company MOGMedia Design’s Facebook account since August 26, 2016. 2017 saw the release of the game’s final version.

“Les Héros du Sahel”, traces the four-stage journey of the main character, Shamsou – a national hero – who uses solar energy to fight bad guys. A reflection that could well stick to the realities of Niger, this hot West African country where solar energy appears as a great alternative to electricity problems.

Armed with his shield in the form of the Tahoua cross, a piece of jewelry worn mostly by the residents of the city of Tahoua to identify themselves, the hero journeys through the Nigerien countries, particularly those that hold the names of the Hausa and Zarma peoples. The song is, in a sense, a wonderful ode to Nigerien culture, as is the character’s attire, which is done in the country’s colors.

The game is based on the Housseyni Issa Mahaman-created comic strip “Shamsou, the Sun Warrior.” He intends to transform his concept into an animated picture after comic books and modern video games.
