The Nigeria Police Force arrested over 30 protesters flying Russian flags during the nationwide #EndBadGovernance demonstrations on Monday.

News Central reports that the police had earlier confirmed the arrest of Ahmed, the taylor who was caught mass producing these Russian flags used by some of the protesters in Kano, Kaduna and other northern states.

Police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this during a press briefing at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters, organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The #EndBadGovernance protests entered the fifth day on August 5, 2024. Protesters hit the streets with Russian flags, chanting slogans, and carrying placards.

Adejobi stressed that flying the flags of other countries in Nigeria is a criminal offense, as Nigeria is a sovereign state.

He said those arrested, including their sponsors, will face legal charges.

“To carry the flags of a foreign country on a land is a criminal offense. We have them arrested. Just this morning, we have arrested one ‘Ahmed Taylor’ from Nasarawa Local Government area of Kano state, for producing a large quantity of Russian flags given to young Nigerians to go and fly.

“For reasons known to him. We are profiling him. We want to get other sponsors like him. As I speak with you, the same thing has happened in Kaduna. Thus, as we started this briefing, we’ve been able to arrest 30 of them with same Russian flags,” Adejobi said.
