31 Year-Old Mfon Udofia Leads D’Tigers to 2021 Afrobasket Qualifiers

Nigeria’s basketball federation on Monday announced that Mfon Udofia, 31, will handle the D’Tigers at the FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers in Tunisia.

Udofia, an NBA G League former player and assistant coach at D’Tigers will become the youngest man to lead the senior team to a tournament.

The NBBF said in a tweet on Monday that; “Mfon has been with the technical crew just before the 2019 FIBA World Cup will fill in for Head Coach, Mike Brown, currently tied down by Golden State Warriors and Alex Nwora who remains a vital part of the D’Tigers’ crew but will also be missing for personal reasons,”

“The federation expresses utmost confidence that the absence of the two coaches will in no way affect the team’s outing as he described Udofia who tried out with D’Tigers prior to the 2016 Olympics as a capable hands.”

Udofia is currently an assistant coach with the College Park Skyhawks at the NBA G League.
