Ahead of the 2023 African Games , the Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) has disclosed that 358 athletes in 25 sports will represent Nigeria in Ghana.
NOC Public Relations Officer Tony Nezianya issued a statement to this effect on Monday in Lagos state.
“Nigeria is competing in 25 sports at the event. Nigerian athletes were accredited at the Delegation Registration Meeting conducted on March 4,” he said.
A breakdown of the 358 athletes attending:

- Badminton – 12
- Basketball 3 x 3 – 4 female
- Beach Volleyball – 4
- Boxing – 11
- Chess – 4
- Cricket – 15
- Cycling – 12
- Hockey – 32
- Football – 40
- Handball – 14
- Judo – 10
- Karate – 14
- Mixed Martial Arts – 4
- Rugby – 16
- Scrabble – 8
- Swimming – 4
- Table Tennis – 10
- Taekwondo – 14
- Tennis – 8
- Triathlon – 4
- Volleyball – 24
- Weightlifting – 12
- Wrestling – 14
The 13th African Games will hold in Accra, Ghana from Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 23, 2024.
Nigeria last hosted the 8th All Africa Games, now known as African Games in October 2003 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The games held from October 5 to October 17, and 53 African countries participated in 23 sports.
