In a heartwarming tale of perseverance and faith, Mrs. Fummi Akinade, aged 62, has joyously welcomed a newborn baby boy into the world at a private hospital in Lagos, marking the end of a 31-year journey of marriage without children.
The newborn, conceived through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), was safely delivered via caesarean section at 37 weeks in the esteemed Strong Tower Hospital and Advanced Fertility Centre, located in Lagos.
Mrs. Akinade, who has been married since 1992, endured a long and arduous path towards motherhood, including three previous unsuccessful IVF attempts. However, her determination and the support of her husband sustained her through the trials.
Reflecting on her remarkable journey, Mrs. Akinade expressed gratitude to God for granting her the precious gift of motherhood, even in her later years.
She claimed that throughout her years of waiting, she held onto faith in God, believing that He would bless them with a child. Her husband’s support and a particular book that inspired her were her pillars of strength.
Encouraging couples facing similar challenges, Mrs. Akinade emphasised the importance of perseverance and seeking appropriate medical assistance while entrusting their journey to divine providence.
Despite her jubilation, Mrs. Akinade shed light on the financial burden associated with fertility treatments, advocating for governmental support to alleviate the expenses for less privileged couples.
Dr. Ayodele Ademola, the Consultant Gynecologist responsible for Mrs. Akinade’s successful delivery, reassured hopeful parents that advanced medical interventions, including IVF and surrogacy, offer promising avenues towards parenthood.
Addressing common concerns about age-related fertility, Dr. Ademola underscored the hospital’s commitment to leveraging innovative methods to fulfil the dreams of aspiring parents, regardless of age or circumstance.
Since its inception in 2014, Strong Tower Hospital has been at the forefront of pioneering fertility treatments, facilitating numerous success stories and reaffirming hope for couples longing to embrace the joys of parenthood.
