According to a charge sheet prepared by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, 65 individuals who were rescued from the Shakahola Forest in Kilifi County, while undertaking a deadly fast, have now become suspects. These victims, who are believed to be dedicated followers of Paul Mackenzie from the Good News International Church in Kilifi, will be facing charges for attempted suicide, as stated in Section 226 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 36.

The charge sheet, prepared by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, reveals that the followers who are now suspects made an attempt to end their lives by abstaining from meals while they were residing in a rescue centre. The alleged hunger strike took place at the Sajahanadi Rescue Centre in Kilifi between June 6 and 10.

Sources close to the ongoing investigation have disclosed that the suspects turned aggressive and refused to eat, demanding their release.

On Monday afternoon, the group of 65 individuals was presented at the Shanzu Law Courts for further legal proceedings.
