Emergency Responders have put out a fire outbreak which occurred at the Makurdi branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in Benue State, Northcentral, Nigeria.
A portion of the bank went in flames in the early hours of Thursday April 21.
Sources say that they noticed the fire at the back of the bank which is located in the Old GRA area, Makurdi, Benue State capital.
According to reports, the fire started in the bank’s fuel dome but quickly got violent, drawing the notice of some staff who instantly raised the alarm.
Donald Ikyaaza, the Director of the Benue State Fire Service, corroborated the report, saying that he received a distress call about the fire and immediately dispatched his men to the scene.
Calm has however been restored to the area around the CBN via the help of fire fighters and normalcy has begun.
Ikyaaza said; “It was actually a huge fire which started at the company’s fuel dome but my men rushed to the scene and put out the fire before it could spread to other parts of the bank. Everywhere is calm now.”
