The Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport, Togo will be the new departure point for Ethiopian Airline flights connecting Washington DC directly.
This was announced by the Togolese government on Wednesday via Twitter.
The new development, according to the Togolese government is a testament to the growth of the country in air traffic and ambition of the West African nation’s government to become an air hub.
“Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport has been chosen by Ethiopian Airlines as the departure point for direct flights to Washington DC from June 2022.
“A new flight which bears witness to the growth in air traffic and the ambition of Togo to become an air hub, ” the tweet read.
Ethiopian Airlines is one of the few state-owned carriers in Africa and is the biggest on the continent.
It’s also rated as the most historic in Africa in terms of size of travels and reach.
