Some captives from the Kaduna-bound train attacked by terrorists on March 28, 2022, have been released.
The terrorists had derailed the train using bombs planted on sections of the rail track, after which they shot at the passengers, killing 9 and abducting 62, including children and the elderly.
After staying 74 days in captivity, 6 females and 5 male captives were released on Saturday June 11, 2022 following intense negotiations.
The terrorists were said to have released the male captives on health grounds, adding that the women were among the vulnerable in captivity.
The released victims include Jessy John, Amina Ba’aba Mohammed, Rashida Yusuf Busari, Hannah Ajewole, Amina Jibril, Najib Mohammed Daiharu, Gaius Gambo, Hassan Aliyu, Peace A. Boy and Danjuma Sa’idu.
Since the incident, the terrorists had released two people, one of them, the Managing Director of Bank of Agriculture Alwan Hassan, who was said to have paid about N100Million and a pregnant woman, who was reportedly released on compassionate ground.
Earlier, the abductors had demanded the release of eight of their children said to have been in the custody of the Federal Government.
