A memorial service for Queen Elizabeth II will take place in All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, Kenya on September 18, 2022. According to a program distributed by the church and the British High Commission, the service will start at 3 p.m.
Kenyans who are able to attend the memorial service will have the opportunity to pay their respects to the late queen by signing a condolence book.
On September 8th, 2018, 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully in the company of her loved ones at her Balmoral home in Scotland.
Having reigned for a total of 70 years, the queen set a new record for longevity among British monarchs.
The memorial is made even more special by Kenya’s connection to the late queen of England, who ascended to the throne during a visit to Kenya following the death of her father in 1952.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta announced four days of mourning in honor of the late monarch on September 9.
He announced that from sunset on Friday, September 9, till dusk on Monday, September 12, Kenya would observe a period of national mourning.
During this period, the Kenyan flag will be at half mast in all Kenyan diplomatic missions, public buildings grounds, all military bases, posts and stations, and all naval vessels of the Republic of Kenya.
