Ibrahim Chire, a known bandit chief, was eliminated in Zamfara State by Nigerian military personnel participating in Operation Hadarin Daji.
According to reports, Chire terrorised the general areas of Gando, Gwashi, Bukkuyum, and Anka.
The terrorist was shot and killed by the military, according to a statement released Thursday night by Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations.
He said that as their followers fled with gunshot wounds, two more terrorists were also neutralised.
Danmadami explained, “Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI conducted a fighting patrol to bandits enclave at Doka village Gando Forest in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State today, 20 October 2022.
“During the patrol, troops made contact with bandits and engaged with enormous/deliberate fire. Troops in the process neutralised two terrorists while others fled with injuries.
“During exploitation of the general area, one of the neutralised terrorist was identified as Ibrahim Chire a notorious bandit leader known for terrorising Gando, Gwashi, Bukkuyum and Anka general areas.”
He added that the troops later recovered one AK 47, 4 round of 7.62mm Special, one Motorcycle, mobile phones amongst others.
This comes days after six Boko Haram terrorists were neutralised in the North East Banki of Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, by the Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) land forces and air component.
The assailants were ambushed and killed on Sunday along the kilometre-long Kumshe-Banki route.
