Let’s get back to the 2022 American Music Awards, which went down last night at Los Angeles.
Taylor Swift set a new AMA record. The pop star won 6 awards at the ceremony, bringing her career total to 40. This extends her lead as the most-awarded artist in the show’s 50-year history.
On the chart, Taylor Swift is followed by three late superstar artists: Michael Jackson (26 wins), Whitney Houston (22) and Kenny Rogers (19).
Bad Bunny led the pack of 2022 nominees with 8 nods but ultimately won 2.
Beyoncé, who was not present at the show, also won 2 awards. She won Favorite female R&B artist for the 7th time, and her album ‘Renaissance’ won Favorite R&B album.
One of the high points of the AMAs was when Kelly Rowland was booed, while she was on stage to announce Chris Brown as the winner of the Favorite Male R&B Artist category and said she would accept the award on his behalf. The boos from the crowd was so audible that Kelly Rowland had to silence the crowd by asking them to “chill out”.
