Police are currently conducting rescue operations after a head-on collision accident involving two trailer trucks occurred along the Mai Mahiu-Naivasha highway, early Wednesday morning.
The two trucks caught fire on impact, but the fire was quickly put out. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) urged motorists to exercise caution and lane discipline to curb such incidences.
Elsewhere, another accident involving multiple vehicles occurred near Thika town along the Nairobi – Thika – Nyeri Road (A2).
The two accidents happen just a day after another fatal accident that left eight people dead at Ngata Bridge, Nakuru Town West Sub-County along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
Several others who were seriously injured in the accident involving two matatus and a truck were taken to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital and other hospitals in Nakuru City for treatment.
Police have attributed the increasing number of accidents to irresponsible driving, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving, drunk walking, drunk riding, and failure to use helmets among other issues.
