Three people have died on board a Nigerien military helicopter which crashlanded at an airport in the capital Niamey on Monday.
The defence ministry said an expatriate instructor was among the victims on the MI-17 helicopter.
The helicopter was returning from a routine training flight when it crashed on a military runway.
The wreckage went up in flames, blocking rescuers from reaching the crew.
The defence ministry has set up a commission of inquiry to determine the cause of the accident.
