The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, has trounced his rival from the All Progressives Congress APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, Katsina after polling the highest number of votes from the 34 LGA in the state.
The result which was announced by Muazu Abubakar, the Katsina State Returning Officer shows that Atiku Abubakar polled 489,045 votes to beat his closest contender, Tinubu who scored 482,283. While Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) secured 69,386 votes.
Katsina is the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, a member of the ruling APC. Although Tinubu won in 21 local government areas, Atiku, who won in 13 areas went ahead to defeat the APC candidate. Katsina state has 34 local government areas.
